Hell’s Kitchen is set to lose two of its most cherished hospitality landmarks. The Press Lounge, a celebrated rooftop bar known for its stunning skyline views, and PRINT, a beloved farm-to-table eatery, have both announced their impending closure. After more than a decade of serving locals and tourists alike, the establishments, both located at the INK48 Hotel on 11th Avenue, will shut their doors permanently on January 31, 2024.
Owner Adam Block, a pivotal figure in the Hell’s Kitchen culinary scene, cited the inability to sustain business under current economic conditions as the primary reason for the closure.
The Press Lounge, with its panoramic views of the Hudson River and the Manhattan skyline, has been a popular spot for both casual evening drinks and high-profile events. PRINT, known for its commitment to locally sourced ingredients, has been a pioneer in the farm-to-table movement, setting a high standard for culinary excellence in the area. The group employed a member of staff as a forager to make sure they got the finest ingredients for their bar and restaurant.

Despite this setback, Adam Block remains committed to Hell’s Kitchen. In a positive twist, Block announced the expansion of Vesuvio Bakery, another of his ventures. The bakery, renowned for its artisanal bread, coffee and pastries, is set to reopen its Hell’s Kitchen location in the new year. The coffee shop on 10th Avenue originally opened at Vesuvio’s commissary location in October 2022, but shuttered earlier this fall while it underwent a transformation to include pizza, beer and wine.
Block, in his announcement, expressed deep gratitude to the community for their unwavering support over the years. “It is with great sadness that we close these chapters after being in operations for over 14 years,” he said. “But we are excited about the opportunities ahead and remain dedicated to serving this vibrant neighborhood.”
For now, patrons can still enjoy the unique experiences offered by The Press Lounge and PRINT until the end of January, creating a few more memorable moments before their final closing.

It’s not a lack of business – business is thriving in Hell’s Kitchen – it’s a lack of good service. Ink 48 used to be a great hotel. It has slid so far down and created it’s own problems repeatedly with horrible customer service.
The place was literally a high priced dump last visit and will never go back while it’s under current ownership.
Will miss Print and Press with its great views. Great place to “wow” guests.
My guests had the same reaction as the previous person regarding the hotel itself. It was run so much better when it was part of the Kimpton hotel roster. Such a shame.

The press lounge was such an amazing venue to bring guests from out of town…. I have friends out in the farm belt who still remember the view as one of the most amazing things they have ever seen on a summer night.😖😢
This is the a big loss! I love this view and take all my visitors there. So sorry to lose it!
What will replace it? Someone has to snap these properties up.
Sad. As some musician of my residence country said, “everithing fires and burns”. We visited Print and PL 3 times in the last 10 years, as we like to visit NYC each 1 or 2 years. Exelent service and food at P, incredible views and atmosphere at TPL. Hope new venues at the place will remain dedicated to public.
We have brought out of town visitors to the Press Lounge and Print for years. It has always been terrific. The view is the best; though we preferred it when it was a bit more casual without the ‘reserved’ seating and the non reserved. Print used to be really wonderful, but the last time we were there with 5 other friends, the preparation was off a bit. I agree, someone needs to buy that rooftop bar. Wish I could.
I can see why the restaurant wasn’t doing well. Last time I went there the food wasn’t that good with small portions. Too bad because it used to be really good. Shame to lose the press lounge many great memories there.
Although I loved this place, on three separate occasions I asked out of town visitors to meet me there and we were refused at the door due to a private event. I never went back after the third time of that happening. Closing to the public should be a rare thing. How can you have regular customers if you randomly close to the public? The third time it happened I even called ahead and was told no problem. We were dressed in suits btw so it’s not like they were trying to screen at the door. I hope someone else reopens this place. Clearly it has one of the best views in the city.
This is so sad to hear – I’ve been to most of the rooftop bars in and around NYC and this was always my favourite, could never get sick of visiting. Really hoping it sees a reopening under new ownership in the future
