Todayās W42ST Daily presented by TFC ā 7/1/2020

If there is any proof that the world has turned upside down, my recommendation today to seek peaceful dining experiences east of 8th Ave must be it.
If youāve been bothered by the chaos of the cheap margarita crowd on 9th Ave, head to Times Square. Youāll also be supporting businesses struggling to survive as Broadway announces show closures through 2020.
Over on W46th St, you can sit from 7-8pm and gaze at the Hamilton marquee as you eat pizza at Patzeria Perfect Pizza. They had tables last nightā¦

Cross Times Square and youāll discover white tablecloth eateries like Le Marais open for lunch and dinner. Rushing through this area for so many years, Iād never noticed this place. I love this quote on their website from Senator Joe Lieberman: āWhere else would a non-Jewish Portuguese immigrant open a French bistro, hire an Irish-Italian Catholic as its executive chef, and create one of the finest and most successful kosher restaurants in the United States?ā Who knew?

And if you want to venture out this morning for a coffee and breakfast, there is a beautiful table set for you a little further north on W55th St at CertĆ© Kitchen. Their speciality in the past was for 5,000-people galas, but theyāre back and making a go of it one table at a time.

As always, take photographs and add the hashtag #W42ST to your social posts. Weāll add it to our āHellās Kitchen is OPEN!ā list. Weāre working on adding a new section for Times Square soon.

44&X RETURNS
Donāt leave Hellās Kitchen for too long though, as Scott and Bruce are returning for duty at 44&X. Ruth interviewed them back in March for our W42ST Best Of HK awards (we know, the tension is killing you as to who won⦠soon, we promise!). You can read about the āKings of the Wild Frontierā and their 20 years in neighborhood here.
We caught up with them on 10th Ave last night. Theyāre on great form. Watch the video below to see what they have on offer from 5pm.

Meanwhile, letās not forget our other favorite fine dining spot that has just returned, Chez Josephine. They are back and continue to celebrate the legend of Josephine Baker, an amazing woman in so many ways. Go dineā¦
