Hurricane season’s leftover wet weather may have pushed last week’s W44th Street Better Block Association’s Garage Sale to this Saturday — but there was no hint of dampened enthusiasm for today’s event.

The annual W44th Street Garage Sale finally got underway with Hell’s Kitchen neighbors turning out in force for the event that features dozens of vendors on the tree-lined, historic street. Senator Brad Hoylman made an appearance on his way up to the ribbon cutting at the renovated David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center (which explained the very smart suit for a block sale!)

You can still browse goodies up to 5pm this evening on W44th Street between 9th and 10th Avenue — including award-winning neighborhood favorite Domus who will be selling donated items to raise money for Nova Hope for Haiti!

  1. Would have been nice if this was posted well before it occurred. I, for one, had no idea this (usually Spring) event was happening. I didn’t see any notices anywhere in the neighborhood.

Thanks so much for your photos of W44th St Block Assoc Sale on Sat. It was a fun community event that brought in folks “from away”. I was happy to chat with people outside Hells Kitchen and as far away as London and Washington state as I was selling my artwork in front of the historically famous Actors Studio. And the weather was delightful! So glad we were granted a reprieve to reschedule. Appreciate your coverage before and after!
