Happy Greek Easter Sunday to you!

We’re all wondering when this is going to end.  Nobody has the answer to that. There are moments of feeling this is intolerable, but if we reflect a little and look at history – the world has been here before. We’re actually in good shape.

Yesterday, I thought about my parents (unfortunately no longer with us) and wanted to ask them how it was growing up in England during the Second World War. I know my father was sent away from home as an evacuee to the Derbyshire countryside. That must have seemed like a lifetime. He got through it. We will get through this.

In our W42ST Faces project, there have been so many lovely messages.  Hell’s Kitchen definitely has a fighting spirit.  Amanda Raitz Hebert thinks there’s no better place than Hell’s Kitchen to deliver on Winston Churchill’s quotation: “Never let a good crisis go to waste.” Watch Amanda’s message here.  You can add your own too.

It feels like a wartime. When Governor Cuomo  took time yesterday to authorize tying the knot virtually, it felt like granting a quick marriage license before a soldier went off to war.  “Video marriage ceremonies. There’s now no excuse when the question comes up for marriage. No excuse,” Cuomo said. “You can do it by Zoom. Yes or no?”

Back to Churchill. He had a phrase that he used at the start of each day and at the end of every phone conversation: “Keep Buggering On (Keep Plodding On if in the presence of a lady).”  Let’s do that. K.B.O.
