SIGN UP – to our new daily update! We’re not begging. We’ve not got a habit. We’re not even wanting a coffee… but we do want some sign that we are seen.
I’m talking about small business owners who turn up every day, have chosen to serve – and hopefully make a living (and maybe, if we are lucky, a decent profit).
Ask any small business owner in Hell’s Kitchen, and they’ll tell you that people through the door have been in short supply in recent months. But COVID-19 makes those recent months look like a walk in the park.
Enough, enough… we’ve all had our lives transformed and changed on the scale from “I don’t really like change” to “where is the money to pay for food for my family this week?”.
Back to the updates and upbeat. Businesses are open, they have changed. We’ve not changed – we want and need social connection. That tradition is coffee and/or cocktails.
So I’m starting with coffee. How about a coffee date? On Skype ~ Zoom ~ Hangouts ~ FaceTime – or even the phone? Click the link and book a time for us to get to know each other. Oh – and we will go dutch. I’m going to Venmo my favorite coffee shop $5 – and I’d like you to do the same.

For example, if your favorite is Kahve, you can Venmo them at @kahve-coffee, The Jolly Goat @MuratYilmaz (see his note below) and Bird & Branch at brandon@birdandbranchnyc.com. I will be contributing my first cuppa to our co-working space, The Artist Co-op at @theartistco-op. I’m in the process of getting Venmo accounts for other favorites like Amy’s Bread, Frisson Espresso, Rex Coffee, Sullivan Street Bakery and UT47. If you’ve got them, share them… And remember many are still open for grab & go. Please pop by when you are getting your fresh air today.
And for anyone who doesn’t like coffee, well a cocktail or beer is cool too. That might be more than a $5 Venmo each… Cheers!

ICONIC MUSIC PHOTOGRAPHY
There is so much being streamed online, it can be overwhelming. This caught our eye. Give it a try and tell us what you think.

Tonight at 5 PM EST, legendary photographer Mick Rock will be live streaming from his home, on Morrison Hotel Gallery’s Instagram account, giving everyone who tunes in a look Behind The Lens.
The live stream will feature Rock discussing the stories behind some of the most iconic still and moving images he’s captured throughout his distinguished career, during which he witnessed and documented some of the most monumental moments in music history.
Pic above is a photo in Mick’s gallery from the photographer Lynn Goldsmith, of Debbie Harry and Chris Stein. It gets me dreaming of hammocks and a missed St Patrick’s Day.
HELP
My friend, Scott, in the UK posted this today. It strikes a chord. If you’ve got the time and want to connect with your neighbors….
I posted about 50 of these into letterboxes in my local area this afternoon and am going to cover another 100 houses tomorrow. I have had four calls in the past two hours, one from Gladis aged 90, whose husband passed away two years ago and who was very, very thankful. She knows she can now call me at any time. 🙂

BROADWAY WITH A TWIST OF CORONA
This is a fun Corona medley to start your day – with a medicinal dose of Broadway.
