W42ST Daily 8/23/2020

It’s been the talk of 10th Avenue for two years, but we can finally can confirm that Target will be opening before the end of the year on the old Hess/Speedway Gas Station site between W44/45th Street.

Whitney from Target HQ told us: “I can confirm that our Manhattan Hell’s Kitchen Target store, located at 615 10th Ave, is planned to open later this year. As we get closer to opening the store, we’ll have more specific details to share – including how the shopping experience will be tailored to serve local guests and the grand opening date.”

Woot Woot!

CURIOUS, ODD & COOL
When I moved to New York from the UK, it meant that I could go to Barnes & Noble on Union Square whenever I wanted. There’s no better bookstore in the world.  I’d recommend a trip this week as temperatures push up into the 90s again, as it’s certainly cool in there… Book recommend: Far from the Madding Crowd.

THE DIARY OF A NEW YORK RAT
Vicky Kuperman has brought to us this exclusive story “found scribbled on a face mask outside of 721 Fifth Avenue”.  It might come as a surprise, but the rat thinks “This mayor suuuuuuuuuucks!”

AN APPEAL
Thanks to those who have written to us with words of appreciation, bought us coffees (and cocktails…), and offered their services to support the work of W42ST. We see you and love you. Many have also contributed financially, helping to keep the neighborhood connected and updated at a time when we’ve lost all other revenue. Our gratitude is boundless. If you can help, any amount, no matter how small, makes a massive difference.
