Today’s W42ST Daily presented by TFC — 9/9/2020

Our restaurants and bars need help. There is no question about that. Governor Cuomo said yesterday that the indoor dining issue is one of enforcement: “I am very aware of the economic pain that restaurants are dealing with. If we have the enforcement mechanism in place, then we can talk about opening restaurants.”
The multi-agency hoops that local businesses are jumping through are already adding to the impossibility of the economics.
If you want to hear more, and join a protest, local restaurants are organizing a march on Monday to City Hall. Shane Hathaway from Hold Fast is one of the organizers. They need help to be heard (and saved).

It’s been a perk of the job these last few days to surprise local business owners as we hand out the winning trophies and runner-up certificates for the W42ST Best of awards 2020. Thank you for all the votes you cast to find the winners.
Erol Zeren’s reaction to being voiced the Best Coffee Shop was a tonic for the soul. Watch the video and read the story of Kahve. The Jolly Goat and Rex were voted runners up.
