New York State Senator Brad Hoylman-Sigal has joined the fight against unauthorized cannabis shops — and is calling for a “hands-on approach” involving the Hell’s Kitchen community and for the Office of Cannabis Management Director “to act quickly and aggressively to shut down these unlicensed stores.” Read more…

We’re always intrigued by new businesses popping up around the neighborhood as we walk the streets. The tailors and dry cleaners next door to Amy’s Bread on 9th Avenue was demolished a while ago. See below how the street looked in 2012 (thanks Google Streetview).

We did see them putting up a sign at the end of June (which has since been covered up). Do you reckon it’s “Balcon” — or is a “Y” going to appear before opening?
