Back in the fall of 2014, when W42ST was in the planning stages, the launch team used to gather in the Frank Gehry-designed lobby of the Signature Theatre to work from their coffee shop. “This whole building is designed for orchestrated collisions,” said Jim Houghton, the founder of the theater group, who died of stomach cancer in 2016. This week, he was honored by the city as the section of W42nd Street between Dyer and 10th Avenue was renamed “Jim Houghton Way”.
