How small a turkey? That’s what everyone’s googling and asking this Thanksgiving 2020. We’re a half vegetarian, half carnivore household — and we’re unsure about our social bubble — so there’s unlikely to be a big bird in our oven this holiday.
It looks like the very smallest turkey you can ever find is a hen at 6lb — but Trader Joe’s shoppers are saying 12lb minimum, and our favorite local butcher, Piccinini Bros, has a smallest pre-order of a 10-12lb bird at $72.49.
We’ve compiled a list of Hell’s Kitchen Thanksgiving 2020 offerings. There are plenty of a la carte options, ranging from Chez Josephine to The Landmark Tavern, pies from Little Pie Company to Amy’s Bread, plus drinks from Ardesia to Veritas Studio Wines. There’s also a 20% off deal for W42ST readers on Schmackary’s holiday cookies!
If you want to keep those Thanksgiving offers in your pocket, please become a beta tester of our new W42ST Thanksgiving App. We’d be thankful if you try it and give us feedback!

With the amazing news about vaccines, we’ve been able to dare to dream again about Broadway coming back. This lovely song — written by Barbara Bellman and Emiliano Messiez — came to my inbox this week, When Broadway is Back, and it’s been a wonderful earworm. It’s also raising money to support Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids and the Actors Fund. Give it a listen and I hope it makes you smile 🙂

We’ve had over 250 readers do so already, either as one-offs or monthly contributions. We plan to increase our editorial coverage during the rest of 2020, and to continue to keep you connected, updated and (most of all) upbeat.
Here’s what one supporter told us: “Hey W42ST team – I eagerly open your newsletter every single day. It’s a funny and well-written break from national politics and a global pandemic. Honestly, though, I’m not usually one to read newsletters. Yours however is different. Through it you provide laughs, value, and insight into HK’s best stories! It’s the flat out best newsletter that I have ever subscribed to. Keep Doing What You’re Doing!”
