Today’s W42ST Daily presented by TFC — 9/2/2020

It was a pleasure to catch up with my stylish friend George Hahn for dinner on 10th Avenue last night. George has New York City in his veins, and his article today, “I Happen to Like New York,” was inspired by the monthly playlists he creates on Spotify.

“Like most, I moved here to pursue a dream. But even if the dream changed, this was the city I wanted to live in for as long as I can remember,” writes George. “Whether I was an actor or a writer or a consultant or a whatever, I wanted to do it here. Because I love it here. I loved it from the distance of movies, television, and photographs as a kid, and I love it even more in real life as someone who actually lives here. “

When we finished dinner, Scott Hart (the co-owner of 44 & X) came over to chat. George was Scott’s first bartender when he and Bruce Horowytz owned the 10th Avenue Lounge. Part of their trip down memory lane was the mixtapes that George used to make for them. The world comes full circle. Music and New York City — a beat that never goes away.

TOO SOON
Back in the United Kingdom, they’ve not been as invested in public mask wearing as New Yorkers. However, they’ve made a pre-emptive strike on Christmas. How are we going to get the Mayor to ban this before every day in NYC looks like SantaCon?
