The gunman escaped on foot, heading east towards 8th Avenue and Times Square. The initial report from an officer on the scene said that the male suspect was carrying the gun inside a fanny pack across his chest.

There was a torchlight search underway for evidence at the corner, which has been cordoned off with tape by the police. The 52-year-old victim walked to an ambulance after the shooting and was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition. An officer on the scene confirmed that he was shot in the lower back.

  1. Wow I was standing right there yesterday about 3:30pm eating a Pizza that’s crazy too close for comfort I won’t be going around there anymore Wild West

  2. I live right across the street. My window faces the pizza place. Morning, noon, and night there are crack dealers there. No wonder a shooting would happen. Sad that the place is really on the decline.

  3. that corner is full of vagrants and drug dealers 24/7. Not surprised at all. 42nd from 7th Ave to 9th Ave is a drug/war zone.

  4. I won’t even wait for the bus at that corner. Too many homeless using the bus shelter to hang out.

  5. I’ve spoken to police about this corner multiple times already. It seems to be better with police presence constantly and the new chick fil a open but I avoid it. All it takes is a moment for something to go wrong.

  6. When will the people of NY grow a brain and step up for a real cause to save their city and remove Debozo and repeal this BS Bail Reform (Crime is legal) law??

  7. In the decades that I have lived in Hell’s Kitchen that corner had always been under siege —the longest business to last on that corner was a Dunkin’ Donuts and I was really sad to see it go.
