Today’s W42ST Daily presented by TFC — W42ST Daily 6/24/2020

Yesterday I cycled around Hell’s Kitchen and delivered 150 printed flyers. If you want to help, you can print out the PDF and make sure your favorite local businesses have them too. There’s a QR code so folks can find our “Hell’s Kitchen is OPEN 2!” page along with an appeal for businesses and customers to add the #W42ST hashtag to Instagram posts. Keep checking in on what’s open at W42ST.com.

My cycle ride convinced me that our neighborhood is definitely open again. Phase 2 is underway. Businesses are using every bit of imagination and resource to survive, while building back better. I can also report that the guys are getting their hair cut in droves! They are looking better …
On my Tuesday travels, I bumped in to my friend, and personal COVID hero, Dr Amir Mortazavi at House of Brews. I finally got to buy him that thank-you beer after three months.
Top tip — Restaurant Row will be closed to traffic Monday to Friday 4pm-10pm and 12pm-10pm at the weekends. Go wander, grab a beer and some food outdoors. It’s like Taste of Times Square without the crowds.

I’m a sucker for a David and Goliath story, so I’m delighted to say that the innovation of a five-person agency, Hell’s Creative (led by my friend and millennial mentor, Max Bidna), beat off the might of IBM Watson to win The Drum Digital Advertising awards yesterday. Go to Hell!

PRINT IS BACK…
We’ve just taken delivery of Issue 1 of The Flashpaper magazine. Editor Mark Blankenship has done an amazing job pulling together the ideas of theater artists in so many forms, from scripts and essays to graphic novels, photo diaries, and more. The publication supports artists with 100% of the profits from your purchase.
The Flashpaper only exists in print. Snippets might be available online, but the full experience is in the tangible publication. We love that.

While we’re talking print, many of you are asking when we plan to get back to producing W42ST magazine. That’s really a matter of finance. We’re delighted to have a few partners like TF Cornerstone (sponsor of this Wednesday newsletter) that have supported us with dollars during this time, but opportunities for advertising are slim pickings. If you are in a position to support us, any contribution, no matter how small, will help ensure the future of W42ST. You can give here.
