There was a rare piece of good news for local bar and restaurant owners yesterday, when New York City Council extended the suspension of personal liability provisions in the leases of COVID-impacted businesses through March 31, 2021. The protection had been due to end next week, on September 30.
All expressed thanks, but it was tempered with caution about the continuing viability of businesses with 25% indoor dining. “There is no restaurateur or business on the planet that can balance the books at 25% revenue, it’s a death sentence,” says Sean Hayden, owner/partner at Jasper’s Taphouse and Kitchen. BIKE RIDERS BEWARE!
If your favorite fall psstime is riding up the west side bike path to the George Washington Bridge, rethink that. The bike path from W100th to W125th Street is being closed for three weeks for repair work. The detour is causing frustration with the cycling community (it’s 53 blocks long over a mix of paths and local roads). Read more here…
