W42ST Daily 4/30/2020

Good morning.  It’s time to bid farewell to April, and welcome in May.

The days have merged into each other, but I’m determined not to let the months disappear. I’m using this month end to make a few changes in my world. How about you?

First up, health and fitness. Weighing scales have been introduced into the quarantine quarters – and in six weeks, I’ve put on 6lb. My mind immediately jumped to: “If we’re on lockdown for two years, I’m going to be 100lb heavier!” So it’s three fitness sessions and three bike rides a week for me.

The food front is pretty good. Sharing confinement with a vegetarian has driven me to a much healthier diet. However, reducing my alcohol intake is on the change list.

Nourishing the mind and switching off is next up. My book reading has been on pause, along with New York City. I’ve managed 70% of one book in six weeks. So I’m planning to read two books in May. One will be rereading EB White’s Here is New York. At 68 pages, that’s got to be an easy win. Any other suggestions? My sister sent me this today. Urbanism without Guarantees by Christian M Anderson (about the gentrification of a single street in Hell’s Kitchen – W46th St). I want to read it, but will it switch me off?

Send me your resolutions – or maybe you’re making a bucket list?  LMK.
