They’ve released the trailer for the upcoming movie version of the West End hit musical “Everybody’s Talking About Jamie” – and it’s struck a chord in the neighborhood.
Telling the story of a teenager in Sheffield, England who dreams of becoming a drag star, the movie is slated to arrive in US movie theaters in late February next year, with Hell’s Kitchen LGBTQ community and drag queens already marking their calendars.
Drag Race’s Jackie Cox said: “It would have been so helpful when I was younger to have seen this movie. Being queer, and expressing yourself through drag, are all so valid and important for kids – and especially their parents – to see on the big screen.”
Paige Turner met Jamie at the premiere in New York of the London stage show screening. She said: “This coming of age story reminds us all that being different and showing your true colors is the greatest journey one can take.”

The date to remember is February 26 next year! The title role of Jamie New (who blossoms into Mimi Me) is played by newcomer Max Harwood, while supporting him is Oscar nominee Richard E. Grant as Hugo (a former drag queen known as Loco Chanelle), Sharon Horgan as Miss Hedge, and Sarah Lancashire as Margaret New.
