PHOTO ESSAY BY LYNNETTE BLANCHE

Even if you’ve not got a subway to catch — it’s worth walking underground from Times Square to Bryant Park below W42nd Street to check out the massive mosaic art installation of Soundsuits by artist Nick Cave.

Photographer Lynnette Blanche observed New Yorkers interacting with the first part of the Each One, Every On, Equal All series along the transit corridor this week. The 360-feet Every One display made of glass tiles will be followed up in 2022 by Each One and Equal All. Once complete, the project will cover 4,600-square-feet.

Chicago-based artist Nick Cave is famed for his Soundsuits — “inspired by African art traditions, ceremonial dresses, armor, designed textiles, haute-couture fashion, and stereotypical feminine items,” according to Public Delivery.
