City Tavern & Table is set to breathe new life into the award-winning Bjarke Ingels pyramid building, VIA 57 West, by welcoming diners later this year. This month, the Table 95 Hospitality team — who already run Lola’s Mexican Kitchen, Pennsylvania 6, Public House Sports Bar and Brother Jimmy’s — unveiled their vision to the Manhattan Community Board 4 Business License and Permits Committee (MCB4), detailing plans for a “farm-to-table, food-driven restaurant.”
Acting General Manager Craig Hutson said the restaurant plans to deliver innovative regional cuisine in a friendly atmosphere, filling a void in full-service dining options between 11th and 12th Avenues. As part of their initiative, Table 95 will make minimal alterations to the space left vacant by Hudson West Kitchen + Craft Bar, which closed its doors in August 2022 after five challenging years marked by a flooding incident, the pandemic and changes in consumer preferences.
The space was previously operated by the Livanos family, who opened it as Ousia in 2017 — and then converted it to Hudson West. The Livanos family connection to Hell’s Kitchen continues with Molyvos, their Mediterranean eatery on W43rd Street.
City Tavern & Table plans to operate from 11am to 12am Sunday to Thursday, extending hours until 2am on weekends. They anticipate accommodating up to 260 patrons and intend to feature seven outdoor tables, pending revised plans to MCB4. Although the original public notice listed having DJs, the restaurant has confirmed background music as the sole auditory ambiance, ensuring a relaxed dining experience.
Diners can expect an expansive menu with bar favorites like Classic Tomato Soup and Nashville Hot Cauliflower for starters. Entrées — priced from $18 to $35, according to the menu presented to MCB4 — feature diverse dishes from Korean Beef Fried Rice to Rigatoni Roma. Sandwich offerings include City Tap Cubano and Black Angus Tap Burger, while salads, ranging from $14-18, include the Italian Deli and Caesar. For pizza enthusiasts, creations like the Four Fathers and The G.O.A.T await. The dessert section, with items from $10-12, serves up indulgences like Chocolate Ganache Tart and Key Lime Pie.
Their restaurant’s launch, coupled with Look Dine-In Cinemas on W57th Street and the anticipated unveiling of Pier 97 later this year, will add life to Hell’s Kitchen’s far West Side.
Great! I hope they’ll be able to sustain the space and succeed.
Amazing! This block is desperate for a bar that’s open late, especially with the community on 57/10 making Pocket Bar opening a living hell
