There are two certainties in Hell’s Kitchen life: the creativity of the bar owners and restaurants — and complaints about the rent.
It brought a ray of hope to my day when The Gaf signed a lease extension for their bar on W48th St. They announced on Instagram: “For all the Gaffers (near and far) that put us on their shoulders and continue to support us… to you! This story ain’t over.2027 here we go!” Woot woot …”
In other news, I spent yesterday downloading huge government data files detailing the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans given. Picking through the 4.9 million loans made nationwide, we found 2,309 Hell’s Kitchen businesses benefited to the tune of $572 million. Is that enough? We don’t think so.
